“I believe gelato is meant to be treated as medicine and taken daily as a prescription.” – Betsy Brandt
Saying there’s a “good gelato place” in Milan seems as obvious as saying you can get really good tacos in Mexico. We get it. But some gelaterias are better than others…and we think we may have found the very best one.
Located in Isola, Artico uses all natural ingredients to make their creamy flavors – including nuts from Sicily and licorice from Calabria. There are no impossible-to-pronounce flavors involved…just old-fashioned organic goodness, blended together to throw your taste buds a serious party.
It’s almost enough to convince yourself that eating gelato is actually good for you – particularly because the mint flavor is a natural white and the pistachio isn’t a weird green color (a luxury made possible, once again, by the lack of artificial flavors and colorings).
Other recommended flavors are the crema di zucca (cream of pumpkin) with amoretti, tiramisu, and mandorla (almond). Although we haven’t tried all the flavors on offer – though we fully intend to – we feel confident enough to say they’re all delicious.
But Artico is more than gelato – they also make mouth-watering cakes. They specialize in panettone during the Christmas season, and they’ll even custom make the tasty treat for you. Have it filled with two flavors of gelato for €40, or get a classic panettone for €20.
If you’re not in the mood for gelato, you can opt for a crepe with nutella. Or if you’d like a side of health food with your sweet treat, opt for the apples, pears, pineapples, or melons filled with ice cream.
And lastly, if you love gelato so much that you want to learn how to make it, enroll in a class at Artico. Email [email protected] for more information.
