Looking for the perfect panettone? This café has used the same recipe since 1930

In 1930, two pastry chefs came together with the goal of providing Milan with delicious homemade treats. Eighty-five years later, people are still lining up to taste them. G. Cova & C. prides itself on keeping alive the very recipes that made them famous all those years ago – and the Milanese are extremely grateful.

This establishment is most known for its panettone, the famous winter-time sweet bread that you either love or hate. If you love it, have it by the slice or take home an entire loaf in a nicely wrapped package.

But if you’re among those who can’t stand this Italian version of fruitcake, don’t worry. G. Cova & C. has plenty more on offer.

If brightly colored, beautifully crafted pastries are more up your alley, you’re in luck.

But don’t waste any time – the sweet treats, particularly the tiramisu, sell out quickly.

If you prefer savory over sweet, they’ve got you covered. Choose from a selection of meat and cheese plates which are perfectly paired with the delicious house red wine.

If you’re watching your waistline, pop in for a coffee…but we can’t promise you’ll be able to resist the goodies on the menu.

Whether you go to G. Cova & C. for a sandwich or a slice of cake, just make sure you go – because how many cafés can say their ceiling is lined with loaves of bread?
